Instagram

I know I am REALLY late to this one, but I am usually the last one to discover these things.  Stubborn, I guess.  In fact, I still haven't gotten into Pinterest, but maybe one day that will hook me like everything else has...

Anyway, Instagram is AWESOME! I have been posting pics to it for about a week now, and I just love it.  I love to share my photos is a cool somewhat-edited way, and quickly.  It also posts to Facebook and Twitter.  LOVE LOVE LOVE!

Here are some of my favorites that I have posted.

My dad just loves to give my kiddo's messy treats.  This particular day, he gave them ice cream sundaes with more chocolate sauce than ice cream.  it was EVERYWHERE...but, hey, it was at his house, not mine so whatever!

Sweet memories being made.  Grampy reading to Hunter.

My mom got the boys Hot Wheels for Christmas.  They love to ride them all over the house.  Its pretty flippin cute!

Benny eating breakfast.

And Hunter too...

On Saturday (yesterday) we stayed home all day and after naps, we baked sugar cookies and decorated them with icing.  The boys pretty much just wanted to eat icing, but whatever.  It was so fun!  Just call me Susie Homemaker.

Benny on the way home today after church and lunch with the fam.

Hunter likes to wear this shirt and call himself "The Outlaw Josie Wales" - he LOVES cowboys and he and his daddy love to watch western movies like Josie Wales.  I am not sure how the shoot-em-up cowboy movies will play into his development, but so far he seems pretty well-adjusted.

We will just call this one "Big Blue Eyes" I swear, this kid gets cuter every day!
I feel like I should be updating my blog more, but really don't have much to say. We are just busy busy and loving it!

Until next time...

Good stuff

From "my utmost for his highest" this morning:

all the time God is in the commonplace things and people around us. If we will do the duty that lies nearest, we shall see Him. One of the most amazing revelations of God comes when we learn that it is in the commonplace things that the Deity of Jesus Christ is realized. - Oswald Chambers

Tile, Knobs and America the Beautiful

We have been working on home improvement projects around here out the wazoo.  Justin tiled our kitchen and entryway, and painted the kitchen and master bathroom.  He is in the process of refinishing the concrete floors in the basement.  All of these have been long drawn out projects for various reasons...we have a lot going on around here with the two boys and our very hectic lives, not to mention some little hiccups we have run into along the way.  I re-read that paragraph and realized I used the term "we" way too loosely.  I was not really much of a participant in this particular "we" except for my shopping skills (for tiles and paint and whatnot).

One day, Justin got the following fortune in his fortune cookie...

A good time to finish up old tasks.
And I came home to this...

and this...

...that very day.  Don't you tell me those fortune cookies lie.  They tell the truth. Believe what they say to you.

Anyway...the tile in the kitchen and entry look AMAZING, right?! For the record, we decided (this time I really do mean "we") that the blue color in the entry way has got to go.  It looks a bit too patriotic against the red in the kitchen.

"America, America, God shed his grace on THEEEEEEEEEE..."

So, we will be replacing it with a more neutral color (not sure what I mean by "we" this time - that might actually be a real "we" but then again, maybe not)

This past weekend, I got some stuff to hang on my bathroom walls, so the master bathroom finally looks like I live here.  Before (oh man, why didn't I take a before picture?) it had super-ugly wallpaper, and several months ago, Justin stripped that paper off, but it has been blank wall since then.  So I have never hung anything on the walls in there.  I really wanted our bathroom to be a calm place with pretty things, so now I think it fits that description...
This photo is really bad (in fact all of these are because they were taken with my phone in the darkish bathroom.) I had to mess with the colors so you could see that the cross is red and says "Grace" but the walls are totally not yellow.  They are a nice creamy tan color.

My little photo montage over the bathtub - I had to doctor this photo too, but you get the idea.
Metal swirly-gig over the toilet. (OOPS, it still had the tag on in this picture!)
and a little comedy: Dad's Workshop - BACK OFF

Tonight I did a little tiny home improvement project that I have been meaning to do for years.  We have this hutch in our dining room/living room that we have had for a long time.  It used to belong to Justin's parents, and is a really nice piece of furniture.  However, it had these really hideous knobs and handles on it...maybe they werent hideous but they were definitely outdated and not my style.  SO...tonight, I replaced them!  It feels so good to accomplish a task and fix something that has been driving me crazy for so long.

Before...

After...

Sometimes it is the little things in life...

Super Bowl

We headed out to some friends' house for the Super Bowl tonight. I tried to bake oatmeal peanut butter chocolate chip cookies, and I thought it was a disaster...but it ended up ok. I have a flare for the dramatic, I suppose. On another note, my friends are excellent cooks, so we definitely indulged on great chili, bbq chicken, many different dips (including rotel dip and many other delicious creations), Will's famous shortbread cookies, lots of fruit and other snacks.

Anyway...we showed up at the Casa de Henderson, and immediately entered a hilarious situation.  My boys wore their fireman and police man costumes, because they ALWAYS do...and the other kids were also in costume. Soren was dressed as a transformer, and Genevieve was a Mizzou cheerleader. Josiah was jealous, so he became a transformer too.  Of course, I had to take pictures.  Without further adieu...

So we have, from left to right...sweet girl, transformer, another transformer, fireman, cheerleader and policeman.  I am aware that not everyone is looking at the camera, but YOU try to take a good picture of 6 children under 5 years old...not so easy!
These 3 have been big time buddies pretty much since birth.  Ainsley is getting to a bit of a "no boys" stage, I think.  Or maybe she just doesn't like these 2.  I can't imagine why...they are so docile. This picture makes me laugh every time I look at it.
She is not your average cheerleader.  This girl is TOUGH!
Benny spilled a whole glass of water on his shirt.  I think it was just a ploy to wear his normal outfit.  Camo pants and no shirt. Yep, that is pretty much his favorite uniform.  Anyway...the hilarity ensued with some jumping on the bed.  (We tried to stop them, but I had to take pictures too...so I couldn't put the smack down too hard)
My son.  I am so proud.  Josiah is very impressed as well. Watch out Sarah...you might not want to let your son hang out with my kids too long!
These two are really sweet.  Every group needs someone to remain calm and restore order.  That is the function of these two darlings.
These two are sweet too...just not in the same way. They like to get rowdy.
Remember that polar bear commercial that was one several times? Well, Genevieve and Soren were very interested in that one.
Thanks for the awesome time, friends.  At the end of the night Hunter summed it up best:

"I had a really really fun watching the football game!"

I am not even sure who was playing.

OK, that is not really true, but may as well be. I have no clue who won, nor do I care.
