Homecoming

Tonight we went to the high school homecoming football game to watch J's brother Ian play football (he is a senior) and his sister Delaney being presented as a freshman attendant.  Ian escorted her on the field.  It was really fun! The boys enjoyed the game and the snacks and the band and the mascot (tiger) but mostly the tackling and the cannon fire when the team scored a touchdown!  Ian played really well, and Laney looked absolutely beautiful. I was especially excited to watch the marching band.  Justin made fun of me. I am not ashamed.

It was fun. Until the boys were a little too squirmy. We left at halftime.  After the band, of course. I like short sentences.

Here they are on the field! A senior football player and a freshman attendant.  Who'da thunk it? We are very proud of both of them.

Our little family, lovin' us some football!

I love taking pictures of these little heads. Aren't they cute?

My kiddos with their sweet Aunt Laney.  This beauty wasn't even born yet when J-dogg and I started dating, and now she is all grown up. She is very awesome, obviously.

After

And...9 agonizing hours after I started, the final product. I just need to take the tape off and put the switch plates back on.

And feed the boys and put them to bed, and finish some laundry (but who is counting)

I promise to be back soon with non-whining. Just one of those days. I am aware these aren't real problems.

Painting Marathon

I took the boys to daycare today and planned to do several things, including painting my hallway and entry. Back when I was expecting Benny I picked out a blue color for this area, and my husband painted it for me. Neither of us ever really liked the color (too blue...haha). Once web painted the kitchen a really awesome terra cotta red, the blue just really looked out of place. So...I am painting it a cream color that we have in the playroom and also the master bath. It's a good tried and true color.

Unfortunately, the blue is so blue that I have had to paint killz on it. I never knew how hard killz is to use! Long story short, it is now 2:33, and I am done with the killz, just about to start the actual painting, once it dries.

I am telling you this, blog, for two reasons:

#1- remember next time to hire this job out, my time is better suited doing other tasks. (cough...WATCHING HGTV...cough)

#2- be thankful that I have a husband who normally does these tasks for me. I never realized how hard it is. Painting is not that bad, but killz is.

Wow, that was a really uplifting post.

Ill try to say something thoughtful next time.

Midway through:

Biker mom

Well, I've been exercising pretty consistently (ish) for about a month now, and have really enjoyed all the extra energy it has afforded me!

I love running, but have been advised that I need to limit my running time because of some weird pain I've been having in my hips and feet. I'm not giving up on running, but thought I needed to incorporate something else into my outdoors routine.

So, the bike is back!! I was big time into biking back before I had kids, but haven't been on a real ride since I got pregnant with Hunter. Long time!

Hello old friend...I just need to get a helmet and I'm off!

80 is the new 30

My awesome grandma turned 80 years young today! I am so blessed to call her my grandma! I like to think that I am a lot like her. And I can only pray that I raise my children to be as awesome as hers!

If you have ever thought I spoke my mind a little more than might be socially acceptable, or that I had a unique self confidence, I got most of that from her! She is a strong woman, with a welcoming spirit that I can only hope to embody. Not only that, but she raised my Daddy, who is pretty doggone awesome. Her life has not been easy, believe me, but it has been full! That woman has a will of steel, so just don't even try to mess with her.

Her home is a place where I can always expect to be welcomed with freshly baked cookies and a warm smile. And you would be too...just drop by sometime! Not really, that would be kinda weird, but you get my point.

Happy birthday, Gma! Here's to the next 80 years!!

Farm Park fun

Today is the first day of Fall, so MERRY FALL TO YOU!!

In celebration of Fall, we went to the Fall Festival at Rutledge-Wilson farm park. It was really fun!  They have horseback riding, bounce houses, and other fall-themed activities along with the pond where we feed ducks, and playground.  We were there for about 3 hours, and definitely didn't do everything there was to do. There is actually a pumpkin patch there, where we got our pumpkins the last couple of years, but we didn't make it over there this year.  There is still plenty of time for pumpkin-getting, no?

Just some shots of my cuties:

Benny on his first horseback ride. He was way excited!

But not as excited as this cowboy. He actually went for 2 horseback rides.  Don't worry, my child is not a giant...that is actually a very small pony.

Down by the pond, feeding some ducks.  Benny was a little irritated about sharing his bread.  Two crumbs for the ducks, one giant bite for Benny...and on and on.  I took this self-portrait...pretty artsy, no?
This is the cow train...these little barrels are painted like cows, and make a train behind a Gator...only in the Ozarks.  For the record, the boys thought it was pretty cool, as did I!

Cutest kiddos ever!

Exercise

Just a quick update, in keeping with my semi-dedicatedness.

Days 24-25 (tues and wed): no workout. Life sort of got in the way.

Day 26 (thurs): I went for a 5k run, just for fun in the evening. First I measured out a 5k around where I live with my car, then set out to run it. My plan was to run 5 min, walk 2 minutes. I have been running 2 miles straight without walking, but wanted to pace myself just incase. I was LOVING my little excursion, just enough of a challenge but not overly exhausting. Besides, I live in the country and the surroundings are just beautiful. I got about 1/2 mile from home and had to start only walking because my foot was completely numb. I was using my iPhone to listen to music so i called up my trusty family doctor (Dad) to discuss my numb foot. We aren't sure what was causing it, but agreed that I shouldn't run on it while it is numb. So, I was very disappointed in the whole situation and am now in a funk. I LOVE running and hope this was just a fluke. I've been having some lower back and hip pain for a long time (thanks, kiddos) and just hope this isn't related to that.
